This painting was done just after returning back from holidays in Bali. I was sick of the political beat up that gum flapping, ‘foot in mouth’ Barnaby Joyce was crapping on about. So I embedded a souvenir shopping bag from Ubud into the landscape. I was ruminating on our interconnectedness with Bali and the way we’ve embedded Australian culture in Bali for good and bad and all that this entails.
